This week’s newsletter is short and sweet. It’s getting tough to find a good deal that stays on the market long enough to feature in a weekly newsletter…

Warning - some elbow grease may be required.

  • 2005 Volvo S60R 6-Speed - Mamaroneck, New York - $7,800

  • Although a silver exterior with a blue leather interior isn’t the most glamorous of the available P2 S60R color options, this particular example seems to be quite the bargain (assuming that the maintenance has been kept up with, and there’s no East Coast rust hiding under the clean-looking body work…

  • Many 6-speed examples of the S60R have sold on Bring A Trailer, recently fetching between $11,300 for one with 163k miles, and $18,000 for one with 54k miles.

    • Examples that came from the factory with the 6-speed manuals installed tend to command a premium over the factory automatic cars…

Unmodified S60Rs with factory manual transmissions are becoming very hard to find…

Flipping Trick of the Week

FOR GOD’s SAKE - LEARN TO NEGOTIATE

  • Never underestimate the power of a respectful lowball over. The absolute best way to maximize your profit on a flip is to make sure that your original purchase price is as low as physically possible.

  • The less money you’re able to spend acquiring a flippable project, the more money you can commit to spending on maintenance, upgrades, and the title/paperwork.

  • A lower purchase price also means that you can afford to negotiate a bit more on the selling side, often leading to an easier sale.

  • Negotiating skills are developed over the long-term, and will never be perfected overnight. Read about the topic, watch videos on the topic, and remember that practice makes perfect.

    • The more you negotiate (both on the buying side, and the selling side) the more comfortable, calm, and confident you become moving forward.

Quote of the Day

“Successful negotiation is not about getting to 'yes'; it's about mastering 'no' and understanding what the path to an agreement is.”

Christopher Voss
